Of the 33,300 acres that makes up the Whittington Center, only approximately 10% of the land is developed, allowing the remaining 90% for our hunters' pleasure. The terrain ranges from rocky hills to rolling plains. Hunters should be prepared for all levels of hiking. In addition to the variation in terrain, the Whittington Center experiences frequent weather changes, not only from season to season but on a daily basis. Temperatures vary between 60 degrees Fahrenheit in to the single digits with rain and snow occasionally during hunt seasons. We recommend layering clothing for all weather conditions including rain gear. Doing so allows you to be comfortable during most weather conditions.

The Whittington Center is located 10 miles southwest of Raton, New Mexico on Highway 64. An airport for private planes is located 1 mile southwest of the entrance. Located approximately 280 miles northwest is the Colorado Springs airport where commercial flights are available.

Hunters will be housed in the Whittington Center housing facilities. Kitchenettes, snacks, towels and bedding are provided to hunters. Non hunting companions are welcome to the all inclusive hunt for an additional fee. Your day will begin and end with homemade meals in our cafeteria. Sack lunches will be provided to take into the field.

When successful, the Whittington Center will provide hunter's with meat processing and taxidermy information. If hunters choose to use a local meat processing company Whittington staff will transport the meat at no charge however, any costs therein will be incurred by the hunter.
