Since first opening August 30, 2008 the Frank Brownell Museum of the Southwest has undergone 2 renovations to meet the demands of its rapid growth. The most recent renovation concluded in April of 2011 in which 3 mannequin cabinets and 3 display cabinets were added, the height of the original cabinets was reduced by 6 inches and museum quality lighting was added to every case and to the ceiling.

While the museum focuses on the history of the Southwest it is certainly not limited in its scope. World Wars I and II have been the recent focus of the museum with some amazing and rare pieces on display. 2012 is New Mexico's State Centennial and the Brownell Museum will be participating in the centennial celebration with displays focusing on the Spanish American War, the American Civil War & the role of the American Indian in New Mexico's history.

The Frank Brownell Museum of the Southwest continues to grow as more and more visitors discover the museum and either donate or loan their collections to the museum. Have a firearm you think is museum quality? Want to share your treasures with others?
