Range to Ridge – Elk Hunting Skills for Women
Join Venery this October 25–29, 2025, at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM, for Range to Ridge—a 5-day immersive elk hunting clinic designed by women, for women. Set in real elk country, this course offers hands-on instruction in scouting, navigation, calling, glassing, and gear prep, all led by experienced female hunters who prioritize ethics, conservation, and confidence-building in the field.

Held immediately after the Women’s Wilderness Escape, this all-inclusive experience includes expert-led classes, meals, on-site lodging, and access to 33,000 acres of prime elk habitat. One lucky participant will be selected for a fully guided cow elk hunt on the property.

Basic Gun Safety Rules

Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. Common sense will tell you which direction is the safest depending on your surroundings.
Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. When holding a gun, rest your trigger finger outside the trigger guard alongside the gun. This will often be the hardest part for kids to remember.
Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use. Demonstrate to your child how to check if a gun is loaded and where the safety mechanism is located.
