LOCATION: NRA Whittington Center, Raton, NM – ONSITE ONLY


The Shotgun Event Coordinator reports to the Program Director and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the shotgun department, overseeing all shotgun events and activities. Knowledge of the objectives and mission of the NRA Whittington Center

Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversees the day -to-day operation of the shotgun facility.
  • Knowledge and familiarity of multiple shotgun disciplines: Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, 5-Stand, and a working understanding of other shotgun disciplines
  • Ability to plan and carryout shoots, solicit and secure sponsors for shoots / events
  • Greet casual shooters, provide outstanding customer service, sell targets, ammunition, etc. and maintain accurate records of all sales transactions
  • Experience in leading and developing staff and volunteers by applying professional human resources management practices.
  • Knowledge of other shooting sports besides Shotgun. The NRA Whittington Center is one of the most comprehensive shooting facilities in the world and on occasion the successful candidate will be asked to assist the Program Department with non-shotgun shoots / events
  • NRA Instructor Certification in Shotgun is preferred
  • Familiarity with various youth shotgun programs: Whittington Center Adventure Camp, Boy Scouts, SCTP, YHEC, AIM, 4-H, etc.


We are a full-service shooting facility dedicated to the advancement of the shooting sports. This position requires a high level of customer service, organization, oral, written and interpersonal skills. A professional image, presentation, and work ethic are mandatory to assure success in this position. Some weekend work may be required. Position requires the lifting and carrying of items not to exceed 65 lbs. Position functions in a fast-paced work environment with minimal direct supervision.
Ability to lift/push/pull 65 lbs. on a regular basis

Education and Experience

College degree, or equivalent. Specific knowledge of PAT, PROMATIC, and BEOMAT machines. Basic knowledge/operation of hand tools and power tools, Basic mechanical and repair skills, mechanical and electrical trouble shooting and repair skills

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Proven ability to interface effectively with all levels of individuals. Proven ability to monitor established budget. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro, Excel required, coupled with willingness to learn other software packages essential. Creative thinker and self-starter with excellent organizational skills essential. Proven ability to work independently or as a member of a team required while prioritizing tasks in a time sensitive dead-line driven environment.

Salary commensurate with experience.
