NRA Whittington Center
The NRA Whittington Center Youth Adventure Camp is one of the nation’s premier outdoor youth programs, designed for teens ages 13–17 who are ready to grow in skill, responsibility, and character. Grounded in the Whittington Center’s guiding principles of Leadership, Patriotism, and Marksmanship, this immersive two-week camp delivers far more than a traditional summer experience.
Hosted on the NRA Whittington Center’s 33,000-acre high-desert campus near Raton, New Mexico, the camp typically runs in two consecutive sessions each summer. Under the supervision of highly trained staff and experienced volunteers, campers participate in a balanced curriculum that emphasizes firearm safety, marksmanship fundamentals, and ethical outdoor practices, alongside wilderness survival and leadership development.
On the range, campers receive hands-on instruction in multiple shooting disciplines, including rifle, pistol, shotgun, muzzleloader, and archery, with safety and responsibility at the forefront of every activity. Off the range, campers build confidence through orienteering, map reading, animal tracking, camping skills, teamwork challenges, and outdoor ethics, reinforcing respect for the land and appreciation for America’s outdoor heritage.
Throughout the program, campers are encouraged to lead by example, work together, and take pride in personal responsibility — lessons that reflect the values of Leadership, Patriotism, and Marksmanship long after camp ends. Many campers form lifelong friendships, and some return in later years as counselors and mentors.
Enrollment is limited, and sessions fill quickly. Early registration is strongly encouraged.

When it comes to the excitement of big-game hunting, you get it here at the NRA Whittington Center. Hunt success rates are nearly 100 percent!
Come stay with us! The general public is welcome to stay at the Whittington Center. There is a broad range of housing to accommodate individuals, couples, and small to large groups.
Shooters can take part in competitive shooting, rifle and pistol silhouette, bullseye disciplines, and even black powder muzzle-loading rifles.
