The STAR Range is equipped with AR 500 steel targets ranging in size from 3 inches to 24 inches at distances between 25 yards and 600 yards. This range is not caliber restrictive, making it a perfect range for someone who has a variety of firearms to shoot.

Shooting time official sunrise to official sunset.
Closed Christmas Day.

Range Regulations

Red range flag must be raised before any live fire commences or anyone goes down range.
All pistol calibers are allowed on this range.
All revolvers, semi-autos and single shot pistols may be used on this range. No bolt action firearms or any pistol firing centerfire rifle cartridges allowed.
This range can be utilized by informal and competitive shooters.
Practice 3/8" targets are available on the range for informal shooter use.
No silhouette targets are to be removed from this range.
All calibers of pistol ammunition may be purchased at Shotgun Facility.
Lower range flag when live fire is concluded and store.

ALWAYS Keep the Gun Pointed in a Safe Direction.
ALWAYS Keep Your Finger Off the Trigger Until Ready to Shoot.
ALWAYS Keep Your Gun Unloaded Until Ready to Use.
BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET and What Is BEYOND.
RED RANGE FLAG
1. Red Range Flag MUST be Flown at Each Range Prior to Commencement of ANY Shooting on That Range or Before Going Down Range to Set up Targets!
READ & OBEY ALL Range Signs Posted on EACH Range.
EYE & EAR Protection MUST be Worn by ALL Shooters.
NEVER Handle Firearms While Someone Is Down Range!
NEVER go Down Range While People are Shooting.
COMMUNICATE With ALL Others On the Range.
NEVER Go Behind A Closed Gate or Fence.
18 YEARS and YOUNGER MUST Have Adult Supervision.
ALL FIREARMS MUST REMAIN UNLOADED with Actions Open Except when on the Firing Line. A Handgun may be Carried on one’s Person ONLY in a Holster Designed for the Safe and Secure Retention of that Handgun. No Handgun Will be Removed from that Holster Except on a Firing Line, in Accordance with Range Rules. All Handgun Will be Carried in Accordance with State Rules.
PLEASE Help us Keep the Ranges Clean by Disposing of Trash.
ALL SHOOTING Must Be Done From The Designated Firing Lines.
NO ALCOHOLIC Beverages ALLOWED on the Ranges.
SHOOTING TIME Is From Official SUNRISE to Official SUNSET New Mexico Time. This Can Be Googled on ANY Smartphone or Android device. Or you can click here.
WILDLIFE is Common To See On The Range. PLEASE DO NOT SHOOT while Wildlife Is on The Range.
DO NOT CROSS FIRE Only Shoot Targets Directly in Front of You.
NO TARGETS may be removed from any range.
FULL AUTO *CLASS 3* firearms & Paperwork MUST be Checked By Whittington Center Staff Before You Are Allowed To Shoot.
SHOOTING Will Take Place on Designated Ranges/Firing Lines Only.
PROHIBITED is Explosives Including but Not Limited to Tannerite or Other Explosive Types and Targets.
Maximum Speed Limit is 35 m.p.h. on Main Roads; 10 m.p.h. through Developed Areas such as Ranges, Campgrounds, and Housing.
ALL PETS Must be on a Leash.
NO Hiking, Biking, or Horseback Riding Behind any Range, or any Closed Gate or Fence.
