Coal Canyon
Step back in time at the Santa Fe Trail Rendezvous, a living-history celebration of the mountain man era and the historic Santa Fe Trail at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, New Mexico. Held annually each June in scenic Coal Canyon, this family-friendly event recreates life as it was in the early 1800s with authentic campsites, period dress (encouraged), and traditional skills demonstrations.
Throughout the week, visitors and participants can enjoy a wide range of frontier-inspired activities including rifle and pistol matches, smoothbore and primitive archery competitions, trail walks, knife & tomahawk contests, quail and survival walks, and fun runs. Social events like cooking contests, camp judging, dessert and jug competitions, and evening pot-luck gatherings enrich the community atmosphere.
The Rendezvous brings together history enthusiasts, reenactors, outdoor adventurers, and families for a week of engaging experiences that honor the legacy of the fur trade and frontier exploration along the Santa Fe Trail.

When it comes to the excitement of big-game hunting, you get it here at the NRA Whittington Center. Hunt success rates are nearly 100 percent!
Come stay with us! The general public is welcome to stay at the Whittington Center. There is a broad range of housing to accommodate individuals, couples, and small to large groups.
Shooters can take part in competitive shooting, rifle and pistol silhouette, bullseye disciplines, and even black powder muzzle-loading rifles.
