The Shootists Holiday is a prestigious, invitation‑only event hosted at the NRA Whittington Center, where members of The Shootists — a selective organization founded in 1985 and comprised of professionals and enthusiasts from diverse walks of life — come together for several days of spirited marksmanship and community.
Participants engage in range activities across the Center’s exceptional facilities, from pistol silhouette and long‑range rifle shoots to informal discussions about firearms and shooting practices. The Holiday is rooted in fellowship, shared knowledge, and tradition, drawing those with a deep appreciation for firearms and the camaraderie that the shooting sports cultivate.
The week typically includes a mix of friendly shooting competitions, exploration of firearms heritage, and social events culminating in a banquet. As part of the group’s ethos, the event often supports charitable efforts that benefit youth shooting programs and other initiatives at the Whittington Center.

Come stay with us! The general public is welcome to stay at the Whittington Center. There is a broad range of housing to accommodate individuals, couples, and small to large groups.
Shooters can take part in competitive shooting, rifle and pistol silhouette, bullseye disciplines, and even black powder muzzle-loading rifles.
